Hartal violence: 3 Jamaat men held for killing driver

Police arrested three members of Jamaat-e-Islami in the capital’s Khilgaon area early Thursday in connection with a case filed for killing a driver by torching a bus on the eve April 22 hartal.
Sirajul Islam, officer-in-charge of Khilgaon Police Station, said they conducted a raid at different parts of Khilgaon area around 4:00am and arrested the trio.
They are: Kabir Ahmed, Khilgaon thana Jamaat unit ameer, Julfikar Ali, Khilgaon ward Jamaat unit president; and Md Shahidullah, a member of Dhaka city Jamaat unit.
The OC said an investigation has found the involvement of the Jamaat men with the arson.
Khilgaon police filed the murder case on April 21 on charge of killing bus driver Badar Ali Beg, 48, who was burnt to death as his bus was set alight on that date at Khilgaon area.
At least 30 people have been made accused in the case.
