MoU for Akhaura-Agartala rail line soon: Quader

Communications Minister Oabidul Quader said on Thursday that a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the installation of Akhaura-Agartala railway line will be signed shortly.
The minister told reporters after a meeting with acting Indian High Commissioner Sanjay Bhattacharya at his ministry.
Total 10 locomotives will be imported from India in the next five months and another 16 locomotives afterwards Quader said.
He said a feasibility study will be conducted to replace metre gauge railway line with dual gauge on Dhaka-Chittagong rail route.
About the import of 290 buses from India, the communications minister said 33 double-decker buses have already arrived here while the remaining buses including 61 A/C buses and 50 articulated buses will arrive by December next year.
He said during his meeting with the acting Indian High Commissioner, they discussed import of 500 trucks from India.
